Activate theme
Follow these steps after you buy a Genius Maker theme. You need both a connected store and the license key in theme settings — either alone is not enough.
1. Download the theme
- Open your order confirmation or Orders.
- Click Download Now and save the zip.
- In your Shopify admin go to Online Store → Themes → Add theme → Upload zip file.
2. Connect your store (My Licenses)
- Log in to your Genius Maker Themes account:
Profile → My Licenses - Find an Available key for your plan and theme.
- Click Connect.
- Enter your store’s permanent domain only, for example:
your-store.myshopify.com
Do not use a custom domain likeshop.com. - Click Connect store / Save.
Rules: one license key = one store (per theme). If that store is already linked to another key for the same theme, change the store on the old key first, or use a different key.
3. Paste the key in theme settings
- Copy the connected key from My Licenses.
- Open the uploaded theme → Customize.
- Go to Theme settings → License.
- Paste the key and save.
The theme editor unlocks only when the key matches the store you connected. An empty, wrong, or unconnected key stays locked.
4. Need help?
Email geniusmakerthemes@gmail.com with:
- Your order number
- Your
*.myshopify.comdomain - Which theme you purchased
- A short description of the issue (screenshot of the license overlay helps)
Common issues
- Editor still locked — Connect the store first, then paste that exact key. Refresh the editor.
- “Store already linked” — That domain is on another key for this theme. Use Change on the key that owns it, or connect a different store.
- Refunded order — Keys from refunded or cancelled orders are revoked and will not unlock the theme.
- Renamed / forked theme — Do not rename the theme’s schema name in the code. Reinstall the official zip if validation fails after a rename.
